Text description provided by the architects. The reason for the transformation of Kralenbeek, Kempering, Klieverink, Kouwenoord at The Karspeldreef in Amsterdam Zuid - Oost is the renewal of K – neighborhood. The lane has been reduced, the public area was redesigned and a comprehensive program is realized.
The residential towers are standing proud to the karspeldreef and by the height of each tower of 20 floors; they are a marker in the plan of the Bijlmer. The transformation has focused on applying a nuance in the thinking from the rationalization in the urban design and the industrialization of the construction process, at the time leading to the emergence of the Bijlmer.
The entrance is again two floors high in relation to the size of the Tower, visible from the public space and by its transparency an invitation to come in. The living tower stands with her feet on the ground by making a plinth of basalt and has by the eaves a termination in the cloudy sky.
The plates have been added to the balcony plates and break the monotony of the stacking of the horizontal lines and give the more residential tower the size of a home. The facades and the slats are made of one material to make the facades more than before. The material is aluminum, plays with the light, has no finish and does not disintegrate.
